Tabcorp was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in August 1994, at $2.25 per share, to acquire the wagering and gaming businesses of the former Victorian Totalizator Agency Board. Tabcorp acquired the Star City hotel and casino, a major entertainment complex in Sydney, in 1999. In 2003 the company merged with Jupiters, the owner of hotel and casino complexes in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Townsville as well as gaming machine monitoring. In 2004, Tabcorp completed the acquisition of Tab Limited, the New South Wales based wagering, media and gaming company.

Tabcorp’s three major business units of Casinos, Wagering and Gaming employ more than 11,000 people in all States of Australia.

Tabcorp has more than 220,000 shareholders and has a market capitalisation within the top 50 Australian companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2007, the company generated net operating revenue (normalised and before non-recurring items) of $3,881.7 million. The company's net profit after tax (normalised and before non-recurring items) for the period was $515.6 million.

Tabcorp has typically paid dividends to shareholders in March/April and September/October. Dividends to shareholders in respect of the full year to 30 June 2007 totalled 94 cents per share, fully franked. For more information see the Dividends section.

History

Tabcorp Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange
August 1994

Tabcorp was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1994 as part of the first major public offering by the Victorian State Government of a statutory body. The Company acquired the businesses formerly conducted by the TAB for a total of $77.8 million and acquired licences to conduct wagering and gaming in Victoria for $597.2 million.

Tabcorp manages and conducts wagering business under a long-term joint venture agreement with the Victorian Racing Industry. The Company has a 75% interest in this joint venture, providing the licences, fixed assets, employees and management for which it receives a fee.
