The 2008 Victorian Responsible Gambling Awareness Week is being held from 26 May – 1 June 2008.
The Week, being run for the third year, represents a partnership between government (State and local), the broader gambling industry and community organisations to highlight to gamblers that when they gamble, they should do so responsibly and stay in control.
Tabcorp is again strongly supporting the Victorian Responsible Gambling Awareness Week through the Tabaret gaming network and wagering outlets across the State.
The objective of the Week is to raise community awareness of the importance of responsible gambling practice at personal, community and venue levels.
Using the slogan Gamble Responsibly. Stay in Control the week seeks to provide Victorian gamblers with the information and knowledge to stay in control when enjoying a bet.
During Responsible Gambling Awareness Week information materials including posters, brochures, tent cards and drink coasters highlighting responsible gambling messages are being displayed and made available at gambling and gaming locations around Victoria, including wagering outlets and Tabaret gaming venues.

Overview
Tabcorp is committed to the long term sustainability of its operations and aims to optimise the social, environmental and economic impact of its operations for the benefit of all stakeholders.
Tabcorp is firm in its desire to develop long term relationships with all its customers, where the company does not want that relationship harmed by customers not being responsible in their gambling behaviour.
Following from this commitment, Tabcorp examined best practice both across Australia and internationally, and consulted with employees, counselling services, community groups, governments and expert researchers.
As a result of this review, the company has adopted a responsible gambling framework consisting of three core components to underpin the sustainability of its business and commitment. Through this Tabcorp aims to further develop gambling environments which are supportive to customers and where potential harm to individuals and the broader community is minimised.
The framework, based on a social health approach, separates the actions and focus for the company into three succinct areas – namely initiatives that the company pursues before a person decides to gamble (primary prevention), once an individual has decided to gamble (secondary protection) and where an individual has most likely already developed a problem with their gambling (safety net and rehabilitation).
