Tabcorp believes that industry, government and the community have a shared responsibility to help prevent the development of gambling related problems, and to ensure that problem gambling support services are available for those individuals requiring assistance.
Responsible Gambling Training

Training in the responsible service of gambling products is an essential part in the Tabcorp Responsible Gambling Code, adopted in October 2001.
In Victoria, Tabcorp endorses the Responsible Service of Gaming course offered by William Angliss Institute, which was developed co-operatively between William Angliss, industry representatives including Tabcorp, and in consultation with treatment providers Gamblers' Help.
Both the Tabcorp Responsible Gambling Code and the new course in the Responsible Service of Gaming represent a significant step by the gaming industry to increase its efforts towards reducing the incidence of problem gambling.

The course covers a number of skills and topics, including:

  • A profile of the gaming industry;
  • Relevant legislation, regulations and industry codes of practice;
  • Understanding the concept of harm minimisation;
  • Ability to respond appropriately to customer requests with information about support services; and
  • Awareness of customers displaying observable signs of distress or seeking assistance, and the most suitable response to be taken in such circumstances.

Similar training in responsible gambling is delivered to Tabcorp's employees in all jurisdictions in which the company operates.
